Some people are born to be a master chef. Others can sing like an angel. Me—I have a way with words.

Though in-depth feature stories are certainly the most engaging to write, I enjoy all forms of composition. My experience has included:

Preparing multimedia packages that include feature stories, photography and videography.

Composing copy for brochures, advertisements and social media posts.

Drafting press releases, media pitches, statements and talking points in preparation for on-camera interviews and press conferences.

Writing scripts and developing story lines for video projects and large events.

For more than 10 years I have spent my time honing the ability to craft a compelling story. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to be patient; the best tales take time to emerge. It requires immense trust for a person to reveal their innermost dreams, crushing defeats and moments that make their heart soar. I do more listening than talking and create a safe space for individuals to be as authentic as possible.

Serving as a communication director for a local university has led me to many incredible changemakers. The areas that I am continually most drawn to are features on people, stories about art and communicating efforts to enhance equity and inclusion. Some of the opportunities I’ve had include speaking with a NASA astronaut preparing to blast off into space; interviewing a Pulitzer-prize winning composer about his new interactive work; as well as meeting and covering a talk from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

When I don't have pen in hand (which isn't often!) I am on a road trip to a national park, salsa dancing under the stars, paddle boarding at the bay or serving aces on the tennis court.
